before indigo rain begins, you'll hear a voice cut through the static — that's my best friend, DJ Higgz, announcing the song like it just hit the airwaves. she speaks directly to the people still waiting for the rain to stop. the ones who need someone to tell them it will.

🟣 fun facts about indigo

Indigo sits between blue and violet on the spectrum — it's the color scientists almost removed from the rainbow entirely, as many argue the human eye can barely distinguish it. it exists in defiance of being erased.
Isaac Newton only added indigo to the rainbow to make seven colors match the seven musical notes — so indigo has been tied to music since the very beginning.
Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system and has storms that have raged for centuries — including the Great Red Spot, a storm bigger than Earth that has lasted over 350 years. the rain there never stops. and yet Jupiter keeps going.
Mars has the longest and deepest canyon in the solar system — Valles Marineris — a scar across its surface that stretches over 4,000 km. Mars carries its damage visibly and doesn't hide it.
The number 9 is the last single digit — in numerology it represents completion, resilience, and the wisdom that only comes from having survived everything that came before it.
Indigo dye is one of the oldest dyes in human history — found in 6,000-year-old Peruvian fabric. it survived millennia. like the people this song is for.

✍ what this song means to me

[ fill in below ]
Indigo Rain was the last song I finished for the album. It was actually really hard to write the verses and I experienced some writer's block when I was trying to finish it. Probably because it was so close to the release month. The cool thing about this song is it's called Indigo Rain and it's produced by an amazing LGBTQ+ producer named INDIGOHZ. I knew I needed to get her on this track, I had worked with her before and she was the perfect person to ask to make this beat. You hear her beattag right when the song starts. I start off the verse with "This is my 9th and final life.." because I did read and research my life path number sometime ago. 9 was the number I got. It says that it is my final life cycle and that I have lived many lives before. It really does feel that way. Sometimes even in this one lifetime, I feel like I've lived so many different lives. I just hope I complete what I was sent here to do in this one.

This song is for the overthinkers, the overachievers, and the ones that are over the "normal" life. I strongly believe we weren't meant to just work and pay bills. Yes, that's important to survival, but I think it's the little moments in between. The game nights with your friends, the times you bring out the old VHS player and watch old videos with your family, the trips you make with your chosen family, the times you spend alone and at peace; I think that's what life is about. Although the rain comes for us all, and it continuously will as life goes on, just remember it always, ALWAYS passes.

📜 lyrics

[dj higgz intro]

[verse 1] When you're hurting from the pain And there's nothing left to say When you're shifting through the lanes Every day it feels the same But I know its gotta change It can't always stay the same When you're searching for the rays It's just that indigo It's just that indigo rain Rain
[verse 1] This is my 9th and final life I read it in the stars Lost my way in Jupiter Bumped my head on mars Till I fell upon this lovely planet That we all go and take for granted They tell me "It'll pass" Just like the time does But I can't depend on that Cuz what if mine doesn't Run out? And I'm so close now Plus it seems that I've been here Once before, somehow
[chorus] When you're hurting from the pain And there's nothing left to say When you're shifting through the lanes Every day it feels the same But I know its gotta change It can't always stay the same When you're searching for the rays It's just that indigo It's just that indigo rain Rain
[verse 2] These days I'm tryna put the pro in paranoia Remember father said to be a lawyer So stubborn with the mind of an explorer Wonder what I wasted waiting for ya I'm always in my head But it's not a bad place to be If I could freeze time It'd be when I was the mini me Studied and mastered the practice of equanimity So now when things just happen I just sing a lovely melody like
[chorus/outro] When you're hurting from the pain And there's nothing left to say (There's nothing you could say) When you're shifting through the lanes (You just gotta keep it going) Every day it feels the same (Don't let it show) But I know its gotta change (When it feels the same, but you know it'll change) It can't always stay the same (When you feel the rain on your face, your face) When you're searching for the rays (Just keep on searching) It's just that indigo (It'll be there right after the) It's just that indigo rain (When it feels the same, and you know it'll change) Rain (When you feel the rain on your face, your face)
